As part of its celebrations of Diwali Festival as well as to mark the Children’s Day (which is celebrated in India every year on 14 November), Embassy of India in Dushanbe on November 1 organized a painting competition titled: “Victory of Light over Darkness” (Victory of Good over Evil).
According to Indian Embassy, students of Somoniyon High School; Special Republic School of Tajikistan; School No. 1; Dushanbe International School; Contofield International School; students of Tajik Painters’ Union and children of Indian Diaspora in Dushanbe participated in the painting competition.
The following students secured the top honors in the painting competition: Muhammad Yusuf Tairov, Dushanbe International School; Imron Gadoyev, Tajik Painters’ Union; and Shirin Zabirova, Tajik Painters’ Union
The competition was reportedly followed by a cultural program by students of Indian Cultural Center (Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre), Dushanbe and students of the various schools mentioned above. All the students who participated in the painting competition and the cultural program were given certificates of appreciation. The children had great fun interacting with other children and being appreciated for their talent.
At the event Ambassador H.E. Mr. Viraj Singh was presented with a sketch of Mahatma Gandhi by the Principal of Somoniyon High School. The sketch was prepared by Master Yunus Rahmoni, one of the students of the school.
