The Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population of Tajikistan (MoHSPP) claims that the coronavirus situation in the country has not changed.

The numbers have not changed for already seventeen days – the same 13,308 people infected with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), the same 90 coronavirus-linked deaths and the same 13,218 cured COVID-19 patients have been reported in Tajikistan as of the morning of January 22.

The COVID-19 pandemic in Tajikistan is part of the worldwide pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2).  The virus was confirmed to have spread to Tajikistan when its index cases, in Dushanbe and Khujand, were confirmed on April 30, 2020.

Meanwhile, Russia has handed over information about the Sputnik V vaccine to a special working group of Tajikistan, which will study it and resolve the issue of its acquisition.

Russian authorities say the Sputnik V vaccine is reportedly 92% effective at protecting people from COVID-19 according to interim trial results.

The virus is reportedly affecting 219 countries and territories around the world and two international conveyances.

Coronavirus cases around the globe have been reported at 98,092,757 since China reported its first cases to the World Health Organization (WHO) in December 2019, Worldometer said today morning (05:03 GMT).  Of them, 70,486,514 have recovered and 2,100,452 have died.
