Eighteen new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) were official reported in Tajikistan yesterday, bringing a total number of the officially registered cases of COVID-19 in the country since June 21 to 50.

According to data the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population (MoHSPP), 17 cases of COVID-19 were officially registered on June 21 and 15 other cases of COVID-19 were officially registered on June 22.  

Thus, a total number of the confirmed cases of COVID-19 infection in Tajikistan has reached 13,358 since April 30, 2020, when its index cases were confirmed in Dushanbe and Khujand.

The number of those who have been cured in Tajikistan since April 30, 2020 remains the same – 13,218 (99.3 percent).

The number of the coronavirus-related deaths also remains the same in the country – 90. 

Meanwhile, the authorities have not yet taken strict restrictive measures in connection with detection of new cases of COVID-19 in the country.  Rehearsals for senior school students and university students for participation in celebrations to mark the 30th anniversary of Tajikistan’s Independence are still going on in Tajikistan.  

The coronavirus COVID-19 is reportedly affecting 220 countries and territories.  According to COVID-19 data provided by Worldmeter, coronavirus cases around the globe have been reported at 180,368,337 since China reported its first cases to the World Health Organization (WHO) in December 2019.  Of them, 165,085,789 have recovered and 3,907,558 have died.
