In May in a village in the Jomi region, 15 houses went underground due to soil erosion.

On September 6, the Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense of Tajikistan signed an Agreement on cooperation between the Committee for Emergency Situations and Caritas Internationalis on the implementation of the Caritas project - "Rendering assistance to victims of soil erosion in the Navobod rural jamoat of the Jami district of the Khatlon region".

The document was signed by the head of the Committee for Emergency Situations, Colonel-General Rustam Nazarzoda and Director of Caritas Internationalis in Tajikistan Yormuhammad Kholov, reported by the press center of the Committee for Emergency Situations.


In accordance with the signed document, Caritas Internationalis will support the authorities of the Jami district to help 30 affected households from the effects of soil erosion, to improve housing conditions, water supply and sanitation, as well as to increase the knowledge and skills of residents to reduce possible natural disasters in the future.

It is noted that this agreement is designed to ensure cooperation and mutual understanding within the project, determines the conditions and obligations of the parties and will contribute to the effective implementation of the tasks set to provide assistance to the affected population. The implementation of the agreement will last until February 2022
