On April 30, NGO Sadoqat, jointly with representatives from Terre des Hommes Germany and the Devashtich District Executive Authorities commissioned four newly refurbished pediatric wards in the surgery unit of Devashtich District Central Hospital.
The wards were renovated within the “Access to Quality Healthcare by Rural Population in Tajikistan” Project, implemented by the NGO Sadoqat with the generous financial support from TDH Germany amounting to EURO 25,000 and the contribution of the staff of the beneficiary hospital comprising about TJS 10,000. The project was launched on October 1, 2021 and will continue until September 30, 2022.
“We are thrilled to be able to continue our activities for improving social facilities in support of the efforts undertaken by the Government of Tajikistan to achieve SDGs in healthcare (Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being) in the country,” said Nigora Negmatullaeva, Director of NGO Sadoqat. “We extend our sincere gratitude to the TDH Germany for their generosity and to Devashtich District Executive Authorities, as well as the Administration of Devashtich District Central Hospital for their support and cooperation in implementation of the project.”
The project consists of two hard and soft components. The hard component included the refurbishment of the four newly commissioned wards and the soft one will provide 12 two-day workshops on priority pediatric diseases for 45 healthcare providers from Devashtich and Istaravshan districts, and four child nutrition awareness sessions for 200 women of reproductive age from Devashtich district.
“TDH Germany is happy to have contributed to making healthcare facilities accessible for the children of Devashtich district and also upgrading the trainings of healthcare workers and community members. We thank our partner, NGO Sadoqat and the hospital authorities for the efficient and participatory implementation of the project. Children have every right to good health and environment,” said Chris Harman from TDH Germany.
“I would like to sincerely thank the NGO Sadoqat for their continuous support. This is the third project they have been implementing to support our hospital since 2019,” added Mr. Mirov, Chief Physician of Devashtich District Central Hospital. “This project is another step towards improved access to quality healthcare for children. I would like to extend the heartfelt gratitude of the entire staff of our hospital to Terre des Hommes Germany for their significant financial support and to the NGO Sadoqat’s dedicated team for their tireless efforts to improve our conditions”.
