Radio Liberty’s Tajik Service, known locally as Radio Ozodi, reported on October 18 that Farhod Odinayev is part of a group of self-exiled Tajik activists who have complained that their relatives were under pressure after activists pelted the car of President Emomali Rahmon with eggs while he was in Berlin for talks with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in late September.

He reportedly said the Hisor authorities have cut off electricity supplies to his mother's house as part of a pressure campaign officials are waging against regime critics.

Odinayev told Radio Ozodi that when he confronted the electricity supplier, no reason was given for the cut.

The 47-year-old opposition activist used to belong to the banned Islamic Renaissance Party (IRPT) and for several months in 2013 led Safo TV, an opposition television channel based in Moscow.

The channel was shut down by Russian authorities the same year.

Recall, Oishamo Abdulloyeva, the mother of self-exiled opposition leader Sharofiddin Gadoyev, told Radio Ozodi on October 12 that Farkhor district authorities cut off electricity to her house a day earlier over her son's political activities in Europe.

"They told me 'Your son criticized the president [Emomali Rahmon] in Germany and we got an order from above,” Abdulloyeva said.
