Previously, migrants who went to Russia to work had problems entering the country. Now, students are also facing this problem.
The other day, on Facebook, one of the users asked the question: “Why are students from Tajikistan who study in Russia not allowed to enter the territory of the Russian Federation?”
According to her, her relative, a student, who does not have Russian citizenship was supposed to fly to Kazan. However, as she wrote, they were sent a list of names who are not allowed to enter the country. But she did not explain what kind of list it was, who sent it and whose names were there.
The commentators themselves quickly found an explanation - a Summit of the BRICS heads of state will be held in Kazan from October 22 to 24, preparations are underway, so changes have been made to the educational process.
Rossotrudnichestvo also announced in its Telegram channel that, due to the summit, full-time studies for foreign students would begin only in November, but it only talked about Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University.
“From September 1, training in the form of independent work using remote technologies will be organized. The full-time educational process and accommodation in the KFU dormitories in the current academic year will begin on November 1. In this regard, the university directs foreign citizens assigned and sent to study at Kazan Federal University according to a quota to arrive at the university no earlier than October 31,” - the department wrote.
Whether this applies to other universities in the region is unknown.
Additional verification
Most of the users under the post noted that their children or relatives who flew to study in Russia had no problems, they were allowed on the flight. However, they had to stay for several hours because of the “additional verification”.
So, according to one of the parents, because of the checks, her son waited in line for 5 hours, but he got on the flight.
"He is studying in Moscow. It took a long time to check, because there were a lot of people – 400 people. But he himself, as they say, got off quickly, as a student who speaks excellent Russian, was able to easily explain the purpose of the visit and where he lives, he had no problems. His personal notes: people who are flying to Russia can't even explain where they will live...Tver region... They can't tell you the city or the address anymore... They don't even know,” - the woman says.
Mobile phones and correspondence were also checked, but no one asked about my son's religion. They didn't even ask about the nation. My child is a half-breed."
Another woman's daughter was also additionally checked, but there were no problems.
"She flew to St. Petersburg on August 25, a student of St. Petersburg State University, studying in the 2nd year. She is not a Russian citizen, but there were no problems. She was also checked additionally, but they did not ask questions, they only looked at the documents," she says.
The reasons are not given
According to users, students from Tajikistan easily flew to study in Tomsk, Moscow, and Krasnoyarsk. Many of them do not have Russian citizenship, but it didn’t cause any problems for them. But there were exceptions.
“My friend is a 3rd year student in Moscow. During all his years of study, he only flew to Dushanbe this year to visit his father, and now he can't fly back, they won't let him. And the fact that he is a 3rd year student does not matter to anyone (((( Now the poor father is trying to do something so that his son flies back, but, unfortunately, there are no results,” - wrote Alice Nikulina.
According to another parent, her son flew to Krasnoyarsk on August 25 to study without any problems, but 4 other students were returned back. At the same time, no one explained the reasons.
“The inspections are very serious now. Students are the weak link for recruitment by extremists. Those who did not pass the verification are sent back. And they are doing the right thing,” - notes Malokhat Tairova.
“In general, the question is posed incorrectly, without having any information, do you write why students are not allowed to enter the territory of the Russian Federation? What kind of question is that? Every day, 3 flights depart for the Russian Federation and no one has returned back on the same flight, everyone goes through passport control and goes on, everything is in normal mode, nothing has changed, only the Moscow flight is inspected a little longer than usual, that's all,” - concluded Shahrbonu Khayridinova.
Recall that the Tajiks had problems with flying to Russia back in June. Thus, on June 14, the Russian special services did not allow 30 Tajik citizens, who arrived from Dushanbe, to enter Vnukovo. On June 16, some of them said that the security forces called them a “headache” for Russia. There were women and children among them.
“Asia Plus”, in turn, collected the stories of those who were not allowed into Russia. The migrants we talked to said that they checked not only the documents, but also phones, especially correspondence.
Neither the Tajik nor the Russian side officially talks about the reasons for the ban on entry to Russia for some Tajik citizens.
