This year, 100 additional buildings in Dushanbe will be connected to the city’s centralized heating system, bringing the total number of heated facilities to 3,300, according to Hamza Hakimov, engineer-in-chief  of Dushanbe Heating Network.

In the Firdavsi district, 79 buildings will be connected to the system for the first time. The Sino district will add 31 new connections, while the Ismoili Somoni district will gain 21.  In contrast, the Shohmansour district will see a reduction of 31 buildings due to demolitions.

Of the 100 new connections across the capital, 62 are residential buildings, 31 are institutions and organizations, and 8 are schools and kindergartens.

In the previous heating season, 150 new buildings in various city neighborhoods were connected for the first time.  Officials noted that this season, certain streets and residential areas will also receive heating for the first time.

Heating season preparations underway

Dushanbe’s two main thermal power plants — combined heat and power (CHP) plants Dushanbe-1 and Dushanbe-2 — along with the city's eastern and western boiler stations, have already begun technical preparations for the upcoming heating season.  Currently, hot water is being supplied in select areas of the capital as part of system testing.

The exact start date of the heating season has not yet been announced.  Representatives of the power plants say the launch will depend on weather conditions and temperature changes.

It is important to note that centralized heating exists only in Dushanbe.  The heating season traditionally begins at the end of October, with heat generated by the two major stations: Dushanbe-1 and Dushanbe-2.
