DUSHANBE , January 27, Asia-Plus - In 2005, Tajik Prosecutor’s General Office instituted 24 criminal proceedings under charge of driving suicide, Qimmatgul Aliberdiyeva, Deputy Chairperson of the Committee for Women’s Affairs, remarked at a news conference in Dushanbe on January 27.    

According to her, the suicide problem is particularly serious Sughd and Khatlon provinces, where the largest number of suicide case were reported last year.  

On the factors instigating to suicide, Ms. Aliberdiyeva said people that committed suicide most were motivated by family and economic problems. 

She noted that for the purpose of reducing the number of women who attempt to commit suicide the Committee is carrying work in the capital city and other regions of the country holding consultative meetings with women.
