Traditional international Uzbek cotton fair organized in Uzbekistan on the initiative of the President Islam Karimov plays an important role in the implementation and direct delivery of cotton fiber grown in the country to processing enterprises.

A constantly growing number of foreign buyers show interest in the Uzbek cotton. This is clearly illustrated by the results of the International Uzbek Cotton Fair held in Tashkent for several years now. It provides an opportunity to improve the mechanism of direct supplies of product to the buyer within the interference of intermediaries and increase the number of foreign buyers.

This, in turn, requires that enterprises take practical measures to ensure uninterrupted and faster delivery of the fiber grown by farmers to buyers. For this purpose 22 regional cotton terminals have been created in the country. The resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated June 3 2003 "On improving the mechanism of settlement of accounts for the cotton fiber produced and sold" serves as an important guide for actions in this direction.

Toshkent-Tola Cotton Terminal located in Sergeli district of the capital is the largest of them. The enterprise holding the status of an "interregional" supplies cotton fiber produced by twelve cotton-cleaning plants in Tashkent region, as well as cotton fibre from other regions to local consumers and foreign buyers on the basis of the agreements signed with the state foreign trade companies, such as UzSanoatMashImpEx, UzMarkazImpEx, and UzInterImpEx.
