Russian company "Mobile TeleSystems" (MTS), which launched a mobile Internet service in Turkmenistan this year, has connected 20 Turkmen secondary schools to Internet, said Dmitriy Shumov, head of MTS-Turkmenistan.
He also noted that this year the company sent 20 Turkmen students for higher studies to the St. Petersburg University of Telecommunications.
MTS is a leading mobile communication provider in Turkmenistan. The company''s network covers all settlements of Turkmenistan, including those with more than 2000 people. As of today, the number of MTS-Turkmenistan subscribers has exceeded 800 thousand people. The subscriber base grew by 125,84% beginning 2008.
