Thomas West, the US Special Representative for Afghanistan, and Rina Amiri, the Special Envoy for Afghan Women, Girls, and Human Rights, have embarked on a five-day trip to Kazakhstan and Qatar from July 26 to July 31 to discuss the situation in Afghanistan with the Taliban delegation and representatives from regional countries.

The US State Department said in a statement on July 26 that the envoys will engage in talks with a Taliban delegation and technocrats from key government ministries.

The US Department of State stated that the trip commences on July 26. During their visit to Doha, the US envoys will engage in crucial discussions with a Taliban delegation and technocratic professionals from key Afghanistan ministries.

In Astana, they will hold meetings with representatives from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan for a C5+1 special session on Afghanistan.

According to the statement, the focus of these discussions will revolve around priority issues, including humanitarian support for the people of Afghanistan, economic stabilization, ensuring fair and dignified treatment for all citizens of Afghanistan, particularly women and girls, addressing security concerns, and countering narcotics production and trafficking.
