DUSHANBE, May 17, 2010, Asia-Plus -- Known Tajik judoka Rasoul Boqiyev has won gold medal for Tajikistan in the 2010 Cairo World Cup, finishing first in the weight category of 73 kilograms, Nourllo Loiqov, President of the Judo Federation of Tajikistan, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.
The 2010 Cairo World Cup took place in Cairo, Egypt on May 15-16.
“It is the first gold medal of Tajikistan in this prestigious judo tournament,” said Loiqov, “Before Rasoul Boqiyev, many Tajik judokas participated in the Cairo Judo World Cup but no one of them managed to win gold in this tournament.”
Rasoul Boqiyev is currently being trained for to the next World Judo Cup that will be held in Lisbon, Portugal from June 12-13.
