KULOB, December 12, Asia-Plus - An operation by the Shuroobod police directorate has led to the seizure of more than 7 kilograms of raw opium in the are bordering on Afghanistan.
The Shuroobod police chief, Lieutenant-Colonel Abdurahmon Buzmakov, told Asia-Plus that resident of the border village of Kavok, Ramazon Abdulloyev, was detained Monday, December 11, on suspicion of having been involved in drug trafficking. “7.065 kilograms of raw opium were confiscated from him,” Buzmakov said.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against Abdulloyev and an investigation is under way.
According to Buzmakov, Shuroobod police have intercepted nearly 107 kilograms of drugs over the past eleven months.
