Tajikistan continues its tradition of visiting the International Istanbul Yarn Fair, one of the biggest yarn fairs in the world.

The International Trade Center (ITC)’s Office in Tajikistan says six textile and clothing companies from Tajikistan, namely Vahdat Textile (Dushanbe, Kulob, Yovon), Resandai Qurghon Teppa (Bokhtar), Lider (Leader) from Khujand, Nohid (Istaravshan), Rahimov A.A. (Khujand) and Kosibon are participating in the fair that kicked off on June 1 and runs through June 3.

They are reportedly getting acquainted with new trends, opportunities to purchase the necessary raw materials such as mixed yarns and accessories, and establishing new business contacts during the mission.

Tajik participants believe that visiting this fair will open new sourcing opportunities for them.

According to the ITC’s Office in Tajikistan, the fair is an excellent opportunity for the Tajik companies to promote their products to a wide range of buyers (sales agents, wholesalers and retailers) from Turkey, which is one of the main export markets for Tajik yarn, as well as other countries.  Since 2012, 17 national companies, some as much as eight times have participated in this major specialized industry event in the region.

Mr. Abdurauf Pulotov, Deputy Head of Light Industry Department of the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies of Tajikistan, who accompanies the Tajik delegation, says: “The International Istanbul Yarn Fair is an ideal event for Tajik textile and clothing companies to meet leading textile producers from the region and empower our brands in the regional market.  They also have the opportunity to establish new contacts with the manufacturers, suppliers, importers and traders; in addition, to get acquainted with trends, demands and expectations of the market, as well as to explore new products and innovations.”

Mr. Bahodur Mengliyev, Management Consultant, Vahdat Textile, says: “This is our eighth participation at this fair with support of our international partners.  All of our previous participations provided us with the opportunity to sign several contracts with foreign companies.  This year we participate as a visitor and look forward to increasing the number of our business partners, particularly in sourcing raw materials and accessories for production of our ready-made products as well as widen the presence in the regional markets”.

In order to improve the capacities of the Tajik textile and clothing enterprises in product development and marketing, ITC and GIZ help companies to prepare for and participate in international trade fairs.  Participation in international trade fairs provides good opportunities for the Tajik companies to be competitive in the regional market through exhibiting their products, meeting potential buyers and establishing new business contacts, obtaining information on modern machinery, and learning more about global market requirements.

Preparation for and participation at this fair has been made possible thanks to the Government of Switzerland through the International Trade Centre (ITC)‘s Global Textiles and Clothing Program and Integrated Rural Development Project/Towards Rural Inclusive Growth and Economic Resilience (IRDP)/(TRIGGER) project, jointly funded by the European Union and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in Tajikistan.  ITC’s local partners – ACT Development Group and Business Consulting Group have assisted the Tajik companies to prepare for the fair, accompany and head the delegation during the mission.
