On Monday November 7, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon met in Sharm al-Sheikh with the Federal Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz on the sidelines of COP27, according to the Tajik president’s official website.
In the course of the talks, the parties reportedly discussed issues related to prospects of cooperation Tajikistan and Germany.
Rahmon expressed his satisfaction with the level of diplomatic relations between Tajikistan and Germany, as well as the support of Germany in strengthening the independence of Tajikistan.
The parties also discussed the issue of continuing the intergovernmental dialogue on cooperation for development, the holding of the meeting of economic circles of Tajikistan and Germany, and the participation of Tajikistan in the international exhibition “Berlin Green Week 2023.”
Rahmon and Scholz reportedly also exchanged views on the issues related to the adverse effects of climate change, drought and scarcity, the melting of glaciers, the complicated situation in Afghanistan, the consequences of the pandemic, sanctions and their impact on the countries.
At the end of the talks, Emomali Rahmon invited the Federal Chancellor of Germany, Olaf Scholz, to pay an official visit to Tajikistan.
