Tajikistan Ambassador to Turkiye on November 21 met in Ankara with Ambassador Terhi Hakala, Special Representative of the European Union for Central Asia.
The Tajik MFA information department says the two discussed a number of regional issues being of mutual interest, including cooperation within the framework of the European Union Strategy for Central Asia, as well as cooperation between the European Union and the Republic of Tajikistan.
Ms. Terhi Katriina Hakala (born May 12, 1962 in Viiala) is a Finnish diplomat who has been serving as European Union Special Representative for Central Asia since 2021.
The EU Special Representatives (EUSRs) promote the EU's policies and interests in specific regions and countries and play an active role in efforts to consolidate peace, stability and the rule of law. They support the work of the EU High Representative/Vice President (HR/VP) in the regions concerned. Currently, nine EUSRs support the work of the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell.
