Kyrgyzstan’s capital, Bishkek, is hosting today a meeting of the Heads of Government Council of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Heads of State Council of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council (the second-level body of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) consisting of the heads of the governments of member nations).

Kazinform News Agency reports that the meetings will discuss the relevant issues of interaction and strengthening cooperation among the member nations.  A number of documents in trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres are expected to be signed.

Kyrgyzstan’s media reports say 4,000 police officers have been attracted to ensure public safety in Bishkek during the official events.  The city’s educational organizations reportedly switched to distance learning On October 25-26.

Meanwhile, the press service of Kyrgyzstan’s Prime Minister reported today morning that Tajikistan’s Prime Minister Qohir Rasoulzoda has arrived in Bishkek to participate in meetings of SCO and CIS heads of government, which are being held in Bishkek today.

Those attending the meeting of the SCO Heads of Government Council are Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko, First Vice President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mohammad Mokhber, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov, Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China Li Qiang, Prime Minister of Mongolia Luvsannamsrain Oyun-Erdene, Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin, Prime Minister of Tajikistan Qohir Rasoulzoda, Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Hojamyrat Geldimyradov, Minister of External Affairs of India Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Jalil Abbas Jilani.
