In the wake of the terrorist attack in Istanbul, condolences to Turkiye have poured in from around the world, including Tajikistan.
President Emomali Rahmon sent a message of condolences to his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan on November 14.
Emomali Rahmon, in particular, noted in his message of condolences that “we were deeply saddened by the tragic news of the death and injury of a large number of citizens in a bomb blast that took place on Istiklal Avenue of Istanbul.”
The president expressed deep condolences and words of support to the people of Turkiye, the family and relatives of the victims, and wished a full recovery for the injured.
At least six people were and 81 others wounded in an explosion that occurred in a busy area on Istilal Avenue in the Taksim Square area, central Istanbul at about 16:20 local time on November 13.
A person suspected of having left the bomb had reportedly been arrested by police. Turkish authorities said the blast was thought to be a terrorist attack carried out by a woman. She had reportedly sat on a bench in the area for more than 40 minutes, leaving just minutes before the blast occurred.
