Shavkat Bozorov, member of independent commission also head of group for implementation of the “Settlement of Debts of Cotton-growing Farms”, telling the news conference noted, “We are actively working on seeking solution to the problem on farmer’s debt and the way out of this crisis.”
According to him, the commission is dedicated to study and determine debts of the cotton-growing farms in the country before
January 1 2007
. “When we manage to get information we will use other mechanisms of the commission,” Mr. Bozorov said. “At present we are working on reasons for formation of the farmers’ debts,” he said, noting that it depends, first of all, on legal foundation of the sector. “The other obstacle in solution of the problem is low legal and professional awareness among the farmers themselves. “Therefore we plan to organize a special program on this subject on TV,” said Shavkat Bozorov, “Farmers should know that these debts will not be written off.” “Through our pilot projects, we will define ways of solution of the problem and the farmers should fulfill their obligations,” Bozorov said.
