KULOB, January 27, Asia-Plus -- 667 children of preschool age having no birth certificates have been reported in four villages of the Balkhovi Jamoat in Muminobod District of Khatlon, according to information from the Kulob-based Ngo “Anis”.
Ms. Idimo Kholmurodova, the “Anis” NGO chairperson, has told Asia-Plus that their employees revealed those children when they were conducting seminar on home deliveries in the district.
“The parents say they have not taken birth certificates for their children for lack of money,” Kholmurodova said. She also noted that in cooperation with Zulaikho Komilova, the “Umed” NGO head, they had found funds for registration of the children.
“278 children have to date already given the birth certificates and the process of issuing the birth certificates is ongoing,” the Asia-Plus interlocutor said.
