DUSHANBE , April 13, Asia-Plus - Since April 1, the Disabled People Social Support Foundation “Mehrubon” has carried out an action targeting twenty institutions for disabled people in Tajikistan .  

The Foundation head Ismat Taghoyev has told Asia-Plus that over the past period they handed over clothing and shoes to twelve institutions, including centers for elderly people in Tursunzoda and Yovon s well as Dushanbe orphanage “Chorbogh” and Society of Deaf People.  

According to him, the action is planned to target not only disabled people but also elderly people who don’t have relatives to support.   

“The aid has been provided by SOS American Company Foundation Inc,” Mr. Taghoyev said, adding that a container with tinned goods for the vulnerable people is supposed to arrive in Tajikistan after April 20.  

Besides, SOS American Foundation Inc intends to supply to Tajikistan wheelchairs and other necessary appliances for disabled people special devices.   

At present, according to Mr. Taghoyev, more than 126,000 disabled people are living in Tajikistan .   

ABOUT: The Disabled People Social Support Foundation “Mehrubon” was registered with the Ministry of Justice in March 2005.  The main objective of this organization is in supporting and rehabilitating disabled people and creating favorable conditions of active participation of disabled people in economic and political life of Tajikistan .  The Foundation is providing financial and humanitarian aid to disabled people and members of their families as well as facilitate creation of jobs for the disabled people through opening of various workshops.
