DUSHANBE, December 11, Asia-Plus - International two-day conference formally titled “Afghanistan and Regional Security: Five Years after Taliban” opened in Dushanbe today.  

Rahmatullo Abdulloyev, a researcher with the department on history and regional conflicts studies of the Institute of Oriental Studies and Written Heritage, told Asia-Plus that the conference brought together political scientists and specialists from 10 countries across the worlds, including Central Asia’s states, Afghanistan, Russia, the United Kingdom, Iran, Pakistan and other countries, as well representatives from diplomatic missions and international organizations active in Tajikistan and Tajik border service. 

The conference is staged by the Institute of Oriental Studies and Written Heritage, Center for Conflict Settlement Issues and Religious Studies and the Public Foundation of Aleksandr Knyazev.

During two days, the conference participants are discussing the current political and socioeconomic situation in Afghanistan and regional security in Central and South Asia.
