DUSHANBE, March 7, Asia-Plus  -- The Republican Council for Patriotic Education of Youth held a meeting yesterday to discuss a progress of implementation of the national patriotic education program designed for 2006-2010 as well as the plan of council’s work for the first half-year of 2008.  

Abdurahmon Khonov, the head of the patriotic education department at the Committee for Youth’s Policy, Sports and Tourism, said that they plan to conduct a public poll among servicemen.

According to him, the council also intends to support volunteers for the military service and jointly with the ministry of education to determine quotas for young men who served in the army at higher educational institutions and vocational-technical schools.  

Members of the Republican Council for Patriotic Education of Youth, which was established in 2002, include 22 representatives from the ministries of justice, defense, interior, culture, and education as well as two public associations.
