DUSHANBE, April 11, Asia-Plus - The American Association of Museum (AMM) has provided a $75,000 grant to the Dushanbe Zoo, Viktor Ibrohimov, the director general of the NGO Imkoniyathoi Javonon (Youth Opportunities) and coordinator of the project for rehabilitation of the Dushanbe Zoo, announced at a press conference in Dushanbe on April 11.
According to him, the award allows the zoo to develop a volunteer organization, repair fences, add signs, put in a garden, picnic area, playground and become a safer and more pleasant place for visitors.
The project will be finished before the end of this year, Mr. Ibrohimov said.
In the meantime, Nazarali Sattorov, the director of the Dushanbe Zoo, for his part, noted that 145,000 somonis had been allocated from the national budget for maintaining the zoo.
