DUSHANBE, May 19, Asia-Plus  -- The UNDP Community Development Program and Tajikistan’s Ministry of Economic Development and Trade (MoEDT) have begun implementing the project for development of local and regional government potentials for working out and monitoring development and budgeting programs, Asia-Plus has learned at the UNDP CO in Dushanbe.  

The projects provides for implementation of tasks on supporting the public sector at local level for involving local beneficiaries in a process of working out and implementing programs of development and budgeting.  The project is also aimed at enhancing existing processes of working out development programs in a fashion that they would give the government and civil society an opportunity to forecast development on the basis of concerted priorities.   

The ultimate goal of the project designed for 2008-2010 is to strengthen efficient and responsible management through expansion of partnership with the government institutions of different level on reforming process of working out and implementing development and budgeting programs at the regional and district levels.   

The project will be presented at a roundtable meeting that will be held at a MoEDT on May 21.  The meeting participants include representatives from relevant ministries and organizations, center for strategic studies, civil service training institute, as well as a number of international organizations active in Tajikistan.
