DUSHANBE, April 20, 2009, Asia-Plus -- President Emomali Rahmon son’s, Rustam Emomali, has been elected to the board of the Youth League of Tajikistan.
The extraordinary 9th congress of the Youth League of Tajikistan was held in Dushanbe on April 19. 120 delegates from all regions of the country attended the congress that elected new members of the League’s board.
Maliksho Nematov, the head of the Committee for Youth, Sports and Tourism Affairs, was elected as the new chairman of the League, replacing Davlatali Saidov, who had been appointed as Tajikistan’s Ambassador to Japan.
Besides, Rustam Emomali, the son of President Emomali, was elected to the League’s board.
Speaking at the meeting, Maliksho Nematov noted that election of Rustam Emomali to the board of the Youth League of Tajikistan would promote both strengthening of the League and further intensification of its work. “We have already felt Rustam Emomali’s support for development of sports as an integral part of the country’s youth policy,” Nematov said, reminding the contribution of Rustam Emomali to organization of the football team Istiqlol that currently participates in the country’s premier league.
Rustam Emomali graduated from the Faculty of Economy at Tajik National University and he is currently a student at Moscow State University, Nematov said. According to him, Rustam Emomali now works with the State Committee for Investments and State-owned Property Management.
