According to official data of Kazakh Statistics Agency inflation in Kazakhstan in September 2008 was equal to 0.6%. Chairman of National Bank Anvar Saidenov informed about this in Almaty on October 21.

Prices on food products increased on 0.1%, for non-food products – on 0.3% and for paid services – on 1.5%. Eggs were considerably expensive in September 2008, their price increased on 4.8 %. Prices on dairy products increased on 1.4%, ones for meat and meat products – on 0.9%. Fruits and vegetables became cheaper on 4.2%. For non-food products prices increased on 0.45% on average. Gasoline and diesel fuel prices decreased on 3.1% and 2.7% correspondingly.

Prices for utilities rose by 1.5%. In particular, electricity tariffs increased on 31.1%, gas supply – on 3.0%, water supply – on 1%. Transport services became expensive, its prices increased on 1.5%, including tariffs for passenger transport those rose by 3.3% and medical services – by 1.2%.

During the period of January-September 2008 inflation was 8.1%. Saidenov noted that year inflation slows down. “We expect inflation to slow down till the end of this year and in the first half of next year,” he concluded.
