Preparations for the traditional spring military-tactical exercise were discussed at a meeting of the State Security Council of Turkmenistan on 16 February. The exercise is designed to "demonstrate military power and professionalism of the national army and high martial spirit of soldiers and officers." It was stressed that the exercise will feature the most advanced military hardware mastered by Turkmen soldiers.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that support to the national army would be one of the priorities of the state policy. The president of Turkmenistan said that top army officials and all military personnel bear special responsibility, i.e. to serve as an example of professionalism, honesty and loyalty to homeland.
