DUSHANBE, May 18, Asia-Plus - Republican sports and athletics meeting for youth is starting at the central stadium in Dushanbe today evening.

Nargis Nabiyeva, the chairperson of the physical training and sports development department of the Committee for Youth Affairs, Sports and Tourism under the Government of Tajikistan, said that more than 600 young athletes from all regions of the country are participating in this sports event that will last till May 22. 

According to her, they will compete in eight types of sports such as basketball, volleyball, free-style wrestling, judo, boxing, Greek-Roman wrestling, sambo (combat sport and self-defense system developed in the former Soviet Union), and athletics. 

She added that winners will be included on Tajikistan’s youth national team that will take part in the youth sports and athletics meeting of Eurasian Economic Community (EAEC) that will be held in Belarus in September this year.
