DUSHANBE, July 13 , Asia-Plus — Women’s handball team Dushanbe-1 won golden medals, finishing first in the republican women’s handball competition that ended in Dushanbe yesterday.
Vamarij Murodov, a spokesman for Tajikistan’s National Olympic Committee (NOC), noted that it was the first republican handball competition among women since Tajikistan gained independence.
In final, Dushanbe-1 beat the team of Gorno Badakhshan. The handball players from Khatlon finished third, and DUshanbe-2 took the fourth place.
The main objective of such competitions is to draw Tajik women into sports, the spokesman said.
