DUSHANBE, August 11, 2008, Asia-Plus -- Tajik light-heavyweight boxer Jahon Qurbonov has qualified for a place in the Round of 16 in the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, beating light-heavyweight champion of Chicago 2007, Abbos Atoyev of Uzbekistan 11-3 on August 9.
Nobody expected that Tajik boxer who finished 17th in Chicago 2007 will manage to beat the gold medalist at the 2007 World Championships, who was one of favorites in the light-heavyweight category, and advance to the next round.
In the next round, Jahon Qurbonov will meet Mario Sivolya of Croatia to fight for quarterfinal.
