DUSHANBE, February 12, 2008, Asia-Plus -- President Emomali Rahmon has been nominated to the post of President the National Olympic Committee of Tajikistan, incumbent Tajikistan’s NOC President Bahrullo Rajabaliyev told reporters in Dushanbe on February 12.
“Under the circumstances of the global financial crisis, the sports development situation has becoming difficult,” said Rajabaliyev, “Therefore, we have nominated President Rahmon as candidate to the post of NOC President. I hope that election of Emomali Rahmon as NOC president will give a new impulse to development of the Olympic Movement in the country”
The general assembly of Tajikistan’s NOV to elect new head of this organization is scheduled for February 14 and the NOC executive committee recently nominated President Emomali Rahmon to this post.
Bahrullo Rajabaliyev was elected as president of Tajikistan’s NOC on February 2005.
