DUSHANBE, August 6, 2014, Asia-Plus – On Wednesday August 6, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon received Mr. Chang Ung, the President of the International Taekwon-Do Federation (ITF) also the President of the Martial Art Commission of the General Association of International Sports Federations (GAISF).
According to the Tajik president’s official website, the sides discussed issues related to the ongoing 11th Junior & 6th Veteran ITF Taekwon-Do World Championships and development of this type of sports in Tajikistan.
Mr. Chang Ung reportedly highly appraised Tajikistan’s preparations for hosting the 11th Junior & 6th Veteran ITF Taekwon-Do World Championships and expressed gratitude to President Rahmon and high-ranking Tajik state officials
ITF president highly appraised Tajik athletes’ achievements and handed ITF Black Belt 9th Dan and appropriate certificate to President Emomali Rahmon, the website reports.
International Taekwon-Do Federation (ITF) is a taekwondo organization founded on April 11, 1966, by General Choi Hong Hi in Seoul, South Korea. The ITF exists to promote and encourage the growth of the Korean martial art of taekwondo. After the South Korean Government abandoned the ITF, the government established the World Taekwondo Federation to continue the mission of taekwondo''s globalization. Once General Choi Hong Hi was exiled out of South Korea, he established the new headquarters of the ITF in Vienna, Austria and the organization settled there.
