From August 27 to 31, Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria, will be the arena for one of the most prestigious tournaments of the season – the World Cadet Judo Championships (Sofia World Cadets Championships 2025). This was reported to Asia-Plus by the Tajik Judo Federation (JFT).

The national team included six athletes from the country in their weight categories: Haidar Mahmadsharifov (55 kg), Loik Kudbuddinov (60 kg), Mukhammadesin Sulaimonov (66 kg), Bobojon Sharopov (73 kg), Abubakr Abdujalilzoda (81 kg), Madina Kurbonzoda (52 kg). These young athletes have been strictly selected at national tournaments and training camps. According to representatives of the Tajik Judo Federation, the team is in optimal shape and ready to compete for medals.

The organizers of the championship have prepared a busy schedule:

- August 27 – fights in the weights of 50 and 55 kg for boys and 40, 44 kg for girls.

- August 28 – categories 60 and 66 kg for boys, 48 and 52 kg for girls.

- August 29 – medals in the weights of 73 and 81 kg for boys, 57 and 63 kg for girls.

- August 30 – final individual competitions: 90 and over 90 kg for boys, 70 and over 70 kg for girls.

- August 31 is the final day when the mixed teams tournament will be held.

For the Tajik national team, this championship is a chance to compete for medals and an opportunity to assert themselves on the world stage. Experts note that special attention should be paid to Madina Kurbonzoda, who has already proved herself at international competitions, as well as Loik Kudbuddinov and Abubakr Abdujalilzoda, who are among the strongest juniors in Central Asia.

The Tajik Judo Federation sets high goals for the team – not only to become one of the winners, but also to gain maximum experience in fights with the strongest rivals on the planet. If successful, athletes will be able to rise in the world rankings, which will create new opportunities to participate in major international tournaments.
