An award ceremony for 8-year-old Murodali Saifiev was held at the Chess Center of the Chess Federation of Tajikistan.

For his successful performance at the World Championship among school teams in Alexandria (Virginia, USA), where he won a silver medal, the young chess player was awarded a monetary certificate in the amount of 7,500 somoni, the Federation told "Asia-Plus".

The tournament, which took place from 3 to 6 August, involved 286 players from 48 countries. Murodali, who was on the fourth board, scored 6 out of 7 possible points and showed a high level of preparation and strategic thinking.

His result was one of the best in the competition.

The Chess Federation stressed that the support of such athletes helps to develop chess in the country and motivates young players to achieve new goals.

"We are confident that Murodali will continue to delight with his victories and will become a worthy example for his peers," - the representatives of the CFT noted.

This is not the first major award for the young athlete: in July, he won a bronze medal at the Central Asian Championships in Cholpon Ata, where more than 500 participants from five countries of the region gathered.
