DUSAHNBE, April 6, Asia-Plus - Nozir Yodgori, a spokesman for the Energy Ministry, has announced new measures rationing electricity supply in the Tajik capital

According to him, the measures have been introduced in some areas of Dushanbe in turn.   Mr. Yodgori says introduction of electricity rationing in the capital city has resulted from decline in the water level in the reservoir of the Norak hydroelectric power station.

“The necessary level of water in the Norak reservoir is 857 meters, while at present the water level in the reservoir is 566.88 meters,” said the Energy Ministry spokesman, “Therefore we have to resort to the measures rationing electricity supplies again.”

The rationing has resulted in the supply of daily electric power being reduced in Dushanbe to 18 hours – the electricity supply will be cut off from 11:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
