DUSHANBE, April 13, Asia-Plus -- The BBC will resume its service to Tajikistan on FM frequencies as soon as all licensing issues are settled, Chairman of Tajik Committee for TV and Radio-broadcasting Asadullo Rahmonov announced at a briefing in Dushanbe on April 13.
“According to information from reliable source, the BBC has started passing a procedure to acquire a broadcasting license,” he said.
According to him, as soon as all necessary documents are submitted the BBC will receive its license and may resume its services to Tajikistan on the FM frequencies.
Speaking about possibility of launching private TV channels in Tajikistan, Asadullo Rahmonov noted that they had received such applications “but practically all applicants have problems with their documents.”
“When all documents are brought into compliance with the country’s legislation the licensing committee will consider their applications,” he said.
