DUSHANBE, April 14, Asia-Plus -- In future, eighth- and ninth-form pupils in Tajikistan will have new subject “History of Islam”, Education Minister Abdujabbor Rahmonov told journalists on April 13.
According to him, the services of leading researchers and specialists in religion have been enlisted to consider this issue and work out the textbook.
Abdujabbor Rahmonov noted that “History of Islam” would a compulsory subject and would be taught in schools alongside the “History of Religion” subject.
“Learning foundations of Islam at school will allow schoolchildren rightly understanding the essence of Islam,” the minister concluded.
