KULOB, April 21, Asia-Plus -- On Thursday April 20, the OSCIE field office in Kulob hosted a meeting of representatives from five of seven political parties active in Kulob with representatives from the Khatlon and Kulob authorities.
Abduali Toirov, Chief Assistant to the Head of the OSCE Center in Dushanbe for Political Matters, and representatives from media also attended the meeting. Local authorities were represented by Barot Latifov, Khatlon governor’s representative in Kulob, and Zafar Mirzoyev, head of office of the Kulob mayor.
Mr. Bojidar Dimitrov, head of the Kulob OSCE field office in Kulob, has told Asia-Plus that participants at the meeting discussed ways of raising efficiency of activity of political parties in the city of Kulob ahead of the presidential election in Tajikistan due in November.
According to Mr. Toirov, many constructive proposals were sounded during the meeting. “All these proposals will be generalized” and submitted to appropriate bodies,” he said.
The meeting also focused on facilitating cooperation between political parties and local authorities in the region.
“It was decided to make such meetings traditional and the next ones will be dedicated to discuss specific problems,” Mr. Dimitrov said.
