The Tajik Railways head Amonullo Hukumov told a news conference this yesterday. “Thus, the debt of “Tojikgaz” (Tajik gas concern) alone has amounted to 145.8 million Somonis,” Hukumov said, adding that the debt of the Finance Ministry has amounted to 123 million Somonis, and the debt of Tajik Aluminum Plant (TadAZ) has amounted to 3.5 million Somonis.

The major part of this debt is the debt of some US$26 million to the National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT). The Tajik Railways debts to foreign railways companies have amounted US$7.2 million, including the debt of US$5 million to Russia, US$1.4 million debt to Kazakhstan, US$0.7 million debt to Turkmenistan and US$0.1 million debt to other railways companies.
