DUSAHNBE, May 4, Asia-plus -- Organizational issues of mortgage crediting will have been solved in Tajikistan by the end of the year, the Tajik central bank head Murodali Alimardonov told journalists on May 3.

“We believed that we will be able to organize the mortgage crediting in the country quickly but it proved to be complex work,” Alimardonov said, noting that this process needs long-term loans for the period from 10 to 15 years.

According to him, the funds the country’s banks have are enough only for providing short-term loans.   At present Tajikistan jointly with the World Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), China ’s Development Bank and Kazakhstan ’s Development Bank is working on the issue of participation of these banks in the implementation of the mortgage-crediting project in Tajikistan .

“All the organizational issue will have been solved by the end of this year and project will be launched in 2007,” the NBT head said.
