DUSHANBE , June 13, Asia-Plus - Lasting many months debates between the Communications Ministry and the Antimonopoly Committee on expediency of establishing a Unified Communications Center and Information Resource Unit under the Communications Ministry has ended in favor of the Antimonopoly Committee.

The reliable source in the country’s government has told Asia-Plus that a plan of the Communications Ministry was found inexpedient and being contrary to Tajikistan’s legislation.  We will recall that implementation of the plan would require all telecommunications companies and Internet service providers (ISPs) to route their traffic through the center.

“The government has confirmed once again its adherence to the policy aimed at development of free entrepreneurship in the field of the telecommunications in the conditions of conscientious competition and not allowing monopolization of market in this field,” the source stressed.
