DUSHANBE, June 16, Asia-Plus - “Roghun-Service”, the construction sub-division at RusAl (Russian Aluminum), has announced tender among construction companies for rehabilitation of roads leading to the site for the Roghun power plant.
Aleksandr Kasatkin, a spokesman for the RusAl representative office in Tajikistan, has told Asia-Plus that “five lots totaling US$5 million were put on tender.”
According to him, 11 Tajik construction companies are participating in the tender for rehabilitation of the roads.
Mr. Kasatkin noted that the remaining issues connected with the completion of the construction of the Roghun station would be solved at a meeting of the Tajik-Russian commission for economic cooperation, which is supposed to be held in Moscow in late June.
According to Kasatkin, RusAl and the Government of Tajikistan have already set to the implementation of joint program on training of the construction personnel for this facility. “At the first stage of this program, it is supposed to train more than 3,000 people in various construction specialties necessary for the construction of the plant,” the RusAl representation spokesman said.
RusAl began the first stage of a project to construct the Roghun hydroelectric power station in Tajikistan in May this year. RusAl will invest $50 million into the first stage of the project, which is slated for completion in September and will create infrastructure for the specialists needed to construct the power station itself.
