“At present many schools in Tajikistan experience shortage of skilled teachers of the Russian language and literature and opening of this department is an important step towards enhancing teaching the Russian language in schools,” Ilan Tupaylo, the RTSU Pro=rector for Studies, said.
According to him, they have already received several applications for studying at this department. This year, the highest rate of competition is at the “Finance and Credit” Department of the Economic Faculty. “We have already received 70 applications for 25 seats at this department,” Mr. Tupaylo said, noting that it is followed by the Chinese Language Department – 65 applications for 25 seats.
The RTSU pro-rector says they intend to accept 800 students for studying this year.
Payments for studying at departments on contractual basis fluctuate from US$150 to US$700 a year depending of the department and form of studying.
