DUSHANBE, August 22, Asia-Plus -- Turkey’s Agency for International Cooperation (TICA) has provided a bulk of measles vaccines to Tajikistan in no-strings aid.
According to information from the TICA Dushanbe Office, 69 boxes of measles vaccines totaling 1,900 kilograms have been handed over to the Imunoprophylactic Center at the Tajik Ministry of Health. A total cost of the delivered aid is more than US$100,000.
Saidnazar Turkov, the deputy head of the Imunoprophylactic Center, has told Asia-Plus that this bulk, including 544,000 doses, is enough to meet Tajikistan’s annual requirement in the measles vaccines.
“The national calendar of vaccinations regulates a measles immunization campaign amongst the children between one year and six years old,” Mr. Turkov said, noting that their main partners on providing measles vaccines are also Japan’s Agency for International Cooperation (JICA) and Global Alliance on Vaccines and Immunization.
