DUSHANBE, August 25, Asia-Plus -- Tajikistan is one of main partners of the Russian Federation within the CIS area, Sergey Mironov, Chairman of Russia’s Council of Federation, remarked at Tajik-Russian inter-parliament forum in Dushanbe today.

He noted that Russian-Tajik relationships developing dynamically entered a qualitatively new level.

“We have made considerable successes on all levels of cooperation, ranging from trade-economic to socio-cultural ties,” Mironov said.

According to him, one of the main reasons for low level of cooperation between regions of the two countries is poor awareness of partners of each other.  “Besides, there are obstacles in the fields such as customs and cargo shipments,” Sergey Mironov added.

Russian speaker noted that at present some 4,000 Tajik students and post-graduates were studying at higher educational institutions in the Russian Federation.  “This index is not so high and evidence that not all potential existing in the humanitarian sphere is used,” Russian speaker stressed, adding that the forum should become a good tradition and being held regularly.
