KULOB, August 26, Asia-Plus -- On Friday August 25, an official ceremony of the project for rehabilitation of secondary school No 17 sponsored by the World Bank was held in the village of Guliston in the Vose district.
The source in the Vose education department has told Asia-Plus that the renovated school will able to accept some 1400 pupils on September 1.
Secondary School No 17 in Guliston was build in the Soviet era already, and the school building has not been renovated for past several years. The roof was leaking, the wooden floors and ceilings have decayed. “Therefore many classes have been closed and schools had to work in three shifts,” the source said.
During major repairs additional classes to accommodate totaling 540 pupils have been constructed, and the completed rehabilitation will allow some 1400 pupils studying in appropriate conditions, according to the Asia-Plus interlocutor. “Now, the school will operate only in two shifts,” the Vose education official said.
The major repairs to the school have been conducted under financial support of the World Bank. 267,985 Somonis have gone to rehabilitating this schools.
