DUSAHNBE, September 8, Asia-Plus - The Sixth Forum of Tajik and Persian-speaking Peoples was held in Dushanbe today.

President Emomali Rahmonov addressing the forum noted that it was dedicated to strengthen relationships between the Persian-speaking peoples.  Tajikistan’s leader called on Tajiks and Persian-speaking peoples to more actively participate in development of Tajikistan’s economy.  He also called on Iran to provide assistance in the post-war reconstruction of Afghanistan’s economy, noting great opportunities Iran has.

In his address, President Rahmonov also called on the Muslim countries to develop high technologies.  “Today, many Muslim countries may help each other.  However, many Muslim states, being reach in natural resources, remain behind in development of high technologies, and in consequences of this we are not recognized in the world, and tomorrow, they may call us social odd people out and terrorists,” the president concluded.

The forum ended with adoption of a special resolution.
