DUSHANBE, September 18, Asia-Plus - The www.caginternet.org web-resource dedicated to the issues of Internet Governance in the countries of Central Asia was launched within the regional Central Asian Gateway project ( www.cagateway.org ). 

Jamshed Mannonov, the project national facilitator in Tajikistan, says the new web-site aims to attract attention and to raise awareness of public, governmental agencies, and private sector representatives on the issues of Internet governance in order to facilitate formation of information society in Central Asia. The importance of sustainable functioning and effective use of the Internet is incontestable for the Central Asian countries.  Along with promoting knowledge exchange, economic, political and social spheres development, it also joins communities and facilitates integration.

The resource aims to facilitate creation of necessary conditions for development of coordinated policy in Central Asia on the issues of Internet Governance. It also called to contribute to the global Internet governance process through promoting knowledge exchange and a dialogue on Internet governance issues in the Central Asian countries. 

The web-site provides access to relevant publications and resources classified by countries and topics, to glossary, calendar of events, as well as communications and opinions sharing tools – forum and polling. The Internet Governance in Central Asia web-site is available at www.caginternet.org !

ABOUT: The Central Asian Gateway  project aims at facilitating knowledge sharing and experience exchange on the issues of development and integration in Central  Asia. The project is jointly implemented by the Center for Economic Research (Uzbekistan), Information Agency AKIpress (Kyrgyz Republic) and Media Group Asia-Plus (Tajikistan) with support from the UNDP Regional Center in Bratislava and UNDP country offices in respective countries.
